I've seen this for years now. Definately since the beginning of 7.0, can't remember if it was there at the end of 6. I always figured it was a problem with expansion chasis' and even wasted 2 days a couple of years ago trying to figure it out. I'd love if someone had an answer here, this would make a quite a few people happy.

I just had this bug happen today on a 7.4 HD G5 system, no expansion chassis. I definitely heard the previous take when punching in with quick punch. Playing back after recording played the new take.
Bug, not yet fixed from previous versions.

Just saw this again on another PT 10 HD TDM rig. it also had a recurring issue that might be related where input monitoring did not work correctly. It would play back the recorded track while rolling on input rather than actually being in input. Punching into record would force it to go into input.

We had this bug yesterday at an orchestra session with Pro Tools Ultimate.
1) tracks set on record, no input monitor enabled (green button) 2) hitting play started playing the material we wanted to listen to before punch-in 3) after punch-in the playback from track continued, PT didn't switch to monitor the live inputs Very very frustrating, as we heard silence during the first take (no underlaying audio was present in the tracks during recording), then we heard the first take while recording the second take with the orchestra. What a madness! Any news about possible workarounds / fixes? Many thanks for help in advance. All best, Jakub |

Instead of dredging up an ancient post, start a new post and give complete specs on your entire setup(what computer, OS, interface, exact version of PT, are you using any external mixer, etc). Without complete info on what you have, nobody can offer much help(and this old thread should slip back into the shadows
