Default importing HD video into LE for a music video

We have been filming a music video in this old church. There were two HD cameras rolling. afterwards, I went over to their FCP studio to watch and was blown away by the quality. I want to know if I can import the raw footage into PTLE and edit the whole production myself. I have DV Toolkit - What files do I ask for from the video guy. What format? As far as the dialogue mic goes, it would be nice to have all that on it's own track for archiving.

The end result will be a 3 minute music video. The music will be from a stereo mastered track that will be imported into the project

Yes you can but you need to make sure that they DO NOT give you native HDDVC codec quicktime (won't work unless you have final cut pro installed onto the same system as protools.) Ask for them to export either an h.264 file (not recommended because its a processor hog for protools) or a .mov using jpeg encoding.

I have been running an HDV picture OK recently but also bear in mind that if you want to output the video via the firewire port then you will need a .DV picture.

So, you want to edit video on PTLE?
Music video has a dialog mic too?
What HD cameras?

You can't edit video in PT. You sort of can in HD but while great for minor fixes PT sometimes can't export an edited video, don't know exactly why but a number of us have come up against that problem.
You can play back HD. and although it's not "recommended" I found h.264 worked really well (on a G4) IF I had them render it with every frame a key frame. It makes the file a little larger but if you don't scrolling is a nightmare.
