Default How do I transfer a 16 channel adat into my 002

I want to transfer a recording that was originally done to DAT to my 002 to edit and master. The dat recording is 16 channels. My PT for Dummies says that there are only 8 channels available via lightpipe. I don't understand the lightpipe interface at all. Is there a lightpipe for dummies?

Please help

Earl

Just replace everyplace I say DA-88 with ADAT (well, I guess it's more than that, really, but the process is the same). You will also need something for sync, such as the JL Cooper DataSync2 (you can find them on eBay MUCH cheaper).

Or you could always send the tapes to me and I'll transfer them for you for a modest fee.

Sorry, I just re-read your post, and I'm a little confused; DAT tapes are two channels only; left and right. ADAT tapes are 8 channels apiece, and can be linked together for muliples (16, 24, etc)

If you only have a DAT tape, you are limited to the two channels only. (The tape may include 16 mixed tracks, but they are still mixed to L&R stereo tracks only)

If you have the ADAT tapes and an ADAT machine, you can use the method I described.
