No, the recording drive was pretty empty and a normal fast 2 TB disk. No other programs running, just straightforward mixing.

And no, as I had 6 reels in the session, I did not use DPE, just consolidating empty files and destructive recording into it. As I recorded at the end of the mix, there were only a few interruptions during the recording of a reel, sometimes 3 or 4 stops, sometimes none.

I am still wondering, how this could happen and which conclusions to draw of it.
The drop-outs were not noticeable in a normal listening condition...

Destructive record can cause a hit or drop out. DP does not.

Hmm, why? It did never occur before (the last 10 years approx.). Do you mean, that PT has no precise control over the writing procedure while destructive recording?

A main difference between destructive record and destructive punch is, that the latter auto creates crossfades at each punch in/out. This of course prevents at least clicks at the punch points.

Yes, of course, but I always hand-select the precise punch-in point and record from in-to-out. The problem in this case was, that PT had a problem writing the files without showing an error or stopping - that's what I fear - not to be able to 100% trust the recording...

If I ever need to use destructive record mode, I don't trust the recording and check every punch point. DP is extremely trustworthy and no need to check anything. I would consider a workflow change and use DP.

Hi Brandon, the problem in my case is NOT the punch-in point, the problem is, that PT stopped writing during the recording at two points, each in a different reel, and wrote half a frame of zeros instead audio. I never ever had any problems with destructive recording before.

nope, mute automation is always disabled in my sessions...and as you can see on the screenshots, the drop-out is slightly different in the D/M/E Stems...

I don't know how to trouble shoot your issue with the I do given. I can say I don't get drop outs and use DP. That being said, maybe it was a one time occurence and your workflow is solid. Post back if you keep having drop outs.
