Default Pro Tools wont bounce anything on my G5

Just tried to start work again on my home computer (1.8 dual G5) not one thing will bounce down. Trying to bounce Kontakt 3.5 tracks down. Decided to make Kontakt inactive. The other audio parts without kontakt will not bounce, disabled nearly all plugins only using 5% of the cpu. All bounces crackle then fail. Have tried to follow all the troubleshooting advice on the forums but nothing seems to work.

Anyone one having the same problem?

Just tried a bounce with nothing but the signal generator in the session, failed!

Keep getting the "Increase Hard Ware buffer size" error message, will a new intel based mac fix this or could it be the sound card (002r)

Hi,

How about trying a few things and seeing if you can get some joy.

1) Use the Pro Tools Tech Support Folder , which has tools and utilities to assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting potential problems you may encounter, including a plug-in version generator which can be useful when verifying plug-in compatibility.

http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...4&itemid=25974

2) Try this little cheeky

http://web.mac.com/jcdeshaies/Delete...Bienvenue.html

which will also delete a few bits and bobs.

3) Try opening or beginning a session using your internal (SATA) drive and see if this makes a difference.

4) Defrag external audio drive (with program like 'Drive Genius) or drag all files off the audio drive, format the drive and then drag all the files back on. If the audio drive is 'messy' it can cause lags etc.

5) Try Bouncing after setting the number of Processors to '1' rather than '2' to see if this makes a difference. Some plugins don't run so well on 2 processors and sometimes can cause unusual behaviour.

6) Check to see if your buffer size is set low or high? Try setting to 2048 and see if that makes a difference?

7) Drag the entire contents of the Used plugins folder in to the unused folder, re-boot PT and try to bounce something without Plugins and see what happens. If it's the same then the plugins are fine, and you can drag them all back in to the used folder - if the song bounces, then perhaps a dodgy plugin is causing problems. You can add the plugins back a few at a time and try to pin point which one is dodgy.

8) Check your OS for updates. Leopard 10.5.8??

9) Try different Firewire cables / ports

10) Ask Digidesign to release a stable version of PT8 for PPC users before stopping support for them.

All the Best.

thanks, have tried most of that, dual G5 only allows 1024 buffer size as the highest. Will try to clean up my audio drive and use the program you suggested.

Thanks Jazzy J, the reformatting of my record drive helped with the bounce, however pro tools is still buggy. I really hope they give us G5 users the update.
