CPU usage and plugins
I'm working on a project that has more tracks than I usually have (midi and instrument) and a lot of plugins.
Do plugins use resources when they are active but bypassed? I suspect the answer is 'yes.' I work with a template that has my typical track and plugin configs loaded. I've been running into intermittent issues where I get the "out of CPU power" message. If I deactivate the plugins I don't need at all times, will this help? I'd really like to leave them in the track... Last edited by dg27; 12-03-2017 at 05:03 PM. Reason: word missing |

Re: CPU usage and plugins
Yes, a bypassed plugin will still use cpu and still cause latency. Making them inactive saves cpu(and probably a bit of RAM too). Better yet, move up to PT12 and take advantage of the new FREEZE and COMMIT functions.

Re: CPU usage and plugins
Thanks, albee, for confirming my suspicions.
re: PT12, I've been putting that off like a visit to the dentist (I have the upgrade but have just been too busy to deal with it). Will have to read up on the freeze and commit options... |
