Anyone knows why Avid App drains ipad battery quickly
We have started touse the Avid Control App in the vocal room when we are alone and wanna run some vocals / guitar but on a 3 month old iPad the battery is dead after less that 2 hrs but when watching movies or utube etc it can hold the life of the battery for double or more
Anyone knows or have any idea how to reducee battery drain? Thank you Friends

Re: Anyone knows why Avid App drains ipad battery quickly
Hmm my 4 year old model lasts longer than that.
I keep my screen brightness turned down as far as I can. I'm near my router but a weaker signal could affect it. There's not a whole lot I know of to optimize. The screen has to stay on and wifi stays busy. Unless you plug in and use wired ethernet. I'm not on the newest Avid Control version as my PT is at 2022.7. Maybe something has changed with the update.

I too keep the brightness down.
But researching this not so long ago, I found a function, both on iPad and iPhone that I never knew about; you can actually 'quit' apps. I double-click my home button and all apps active in memory shows up as a stack. I was shocked to see, it seemed like every app I had used since last restart was active in the background, probably using cpu, battery, bandwidth etc. I grab them one by one and pull them off the top of my screen, and they're out of the memory - i.e 'quit'. I have no hard numbers on this, but I feel that it helps with battery drain. But the best option is of course to just keep it there in the studio permanently, put it in a solid stand, and have it plugged in to power all the time. (Good to see you Cristopher. I know you were ill, so I worried. Hope you're all well again.)

I'm actually using v2020.12 with the latest version of Eucontrol and Control app, no problem.

Re: Anyone knows why Avid App drains ipad battery quickly
Thanks for all your input! I think that brightness was always on Full so that would probably do it! Gonna turn down 60-70% and try so Thanks to all and will report back.
And both Bluetooth and 5G was on so thats OFF now aswell I am sure this will improve dramatically thanks to your ideas
