I am currently running a Mac Pro with OS x 10.4.9, and PR 7.1.1. I know DIGI is recommending downloading the 10.4.9 COMBO Update and 7.3. However....I downloaded the 10.4.9 COMBO update, and tried to install it, but I get an error message: "You cannot install Mac OS X combined (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update".
I see so many other folks here have installed it with no problem. What's the secret? |

Edit: Oh wait a minute-which is it, your computer? The Mac Pro (Intel) OR the G5 (PowerPC)?? |

Follow the links in the Digi Announcements section regarding 10.4.9 and you'll find a way to install 10.4.9 over the existing installation, which should eliminate any "software update install" related problems.

Thanks Mark......I actually scoured that, unless I am missing something. I downloaded the COMBO update, and it wouldn't install, so I tried the prebinding script as suggested, to no avail.

10.4.9 has only been approved for 7.3, not 7.1.
However, take a look at the troubleshooting guide at the top of the DUC and follow those directions. Good luck. Are you using the correct Combo?

I am sure I am using the correct COMBO....even the error message says so... "You cannot install Mac OS X combined (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update". I have gone through the troubleshooting guide about 10 times. Still nowhere. |

Are you having any problems launching Pro Tools?
If not, there's no need to install the Combo update.... |

I am not having any problem launching Pro Tools.....HOWEVER.....I am currently running 7.1.1 with 10.4.9. DIGI has only qualified 7.3 on 10.4.9. According to the website, I must install the COMBO update BEFORE I install 7.3 There lies the rub.

Try installing 7.3 then update it to the latest version which is 7.3.1 cs3.
If you don't have any problem launching PT, then its fine.
