Default Wierd Things Happening..HELP!

I should have known better, but I installed Leopard on my Mac Pro. After realizing digi isn't working with Leopard, I re-installed the original OS from when I bought the Mac Pro. Of course, now my Mac Pro cant find my 002. I am currently downloading the Combo update for 10.4.

Also, when i reinstalled the original OS, the damn thing erased ALL of my music, photos, movies, everything....EXCEPT my applications I've installed over the last year. Can I retrieve any lost info?

My main symptom is, Pro Tools won't open, Won't show up in Sound Preferences, Won't show up in Audio/Midi Setup. It's on, firewire is plugged in.

Someone please help, I simply cannot figure this one out.

Thanks,

Kenny

hey Kenny,

Hindsight is 20/20, but you would have needed to use a program like Super Duper! to backup your system drive before reinstalling. What version of 10.4 are you trying to update to? Sounds like something might have gone wrong with the reformatting. I would say use Super Duper! to backup your data, and then Reformat again, but this time choose a full wipeout, totally clean instal. Then download and run the 10.4.9 combo installer and then download and install the Prebinding Script which can be found on Digi's site, or through google search. Then install Pro Tools again from scratch. What version of Pro Tools are you trying to install? You will need at least 7.1.1 to work on an intel Mac.

Also are you trying to use it with Pro Tools to record, or using Core Audio Driver for listening to iTunes and other programs through the Digi 002?

Here is another problem. I had to buy Pro Tools (just the program) online when I got 7.3. So I don't have a disc to load Pro Tools after sweeping my drive. My studio is in PIECES! I can do the clean un/install of Tiger, install 10.4.9 combo, but how can I reinstall Pro Tools?

(especially if I didn't register)

any help is greatly appreciated...clients are getting impatient!

if you bought the 7.3 through the digistore, you can always log in to your digistore account and redownload it from where ever you are. Your SN should be included in the purchase order on the digistore. Just click on the link in your purchase list.

Another note about a "clean" install, you have to ERASE or Partition the drive that you want to reinstall the OS on. If you don't do that you are simply overlaying the OS on top of the other OS and it's messing up all your driver's and whatnot. Even when upgrading to a new OS, like Leopard when you are an DAW user it's a bad idea to use the upgrade option when installing, always backup the current system, then ERASE/Partition the drive, then install the OS.

Hope this info helps.

ok - thanks soo much for the help....New Problems...

My computer will NOT allow me to install the 10.4.9 (or 9, or 11) combo update on my Macintosh HD, nor on my external. I downloaded the Prebinding script fixer, and it said there is nothing to fix.

I have never had this much problems and it's freaking me out.

Are you sure you have the correct Combo updater for your machine type - either PPC or Intel?
