Default How long will Artist Mix be supported

I am thinking about getting an Artist Mix before it's discontinued. I saw that it will be supported through the end of 2024. After that any idea how long Avid will still provide updated drivers?

I think they will be supported for some time as there are a lot out there in use. That said Sweetwater.com has lowered the price of their by $350 so now brand new are $649. They are awesome, will give you a two year warranty and also tech support. I would consider buying from them on this. I am personally likely to sell mine as soon as I demo an S1 when released so if you dont want to buy new I would suggest you wait a bit because the price will likely drop a lot once the S1 is officially released (I heard mid november) and there will likely be a flood of them for sale. Once it comes out if new at SW is 650 I would expect a used one to probably drop to 350-400 or less.

Well it says it in your post! 5 years after discontinue they wont provide anymore support like drivers etc. So if it is discontinued 2019 you have 5 years after that and after that no guarantees or anything.

S1 is hopefully early December
Artist Mix end of Support is 5 years away. This 100% means no more hardware repairs after that but as you can see by history it quite likely that EuControl will still be around and working with the Mix. Obviously we wont be making any major new features for it after that and concentrating on the new products.

Even though Artist Mix is supported, there is no custom plugin mapping.

I wonder if this will change in the future?

I'm sorry but it is a fair amount of work so it's unlikely we would put resources on this in the future and take away from shipping product improvements. If things are easy, we will put them in where possible.

Thanks for the info, I’m likely going S3 or 2 x S2s but will keep the Artist Mix as back up :)
