Default Keep getting \'Out of CPU" - why??

Just installed PT free. Whenever I try to bouce tracks, I keep getting error message 'You're running out of CPU power. Take out some plug-ins to free up CPU power'. Trouble is I'm not using any plug-ins! Have G4, 384MB RAM, no external HD. Did Conflict Catcher set for Protools, increased memory allocation for PT and DAE - still get error code. I'm stumped as are 2 engineer friends - HELP!

All had previously overlooked the 'hardware' under 'setups' menu. Was at 65%. Alas, setting it to the highest 85% made no difference - got error code after 1 second of playback. Still stumped - any other suggestions

I think I had that problem once and solved it by changing the size of a buffer. Sorry that i don't recall the details.

You must be using a USB audio interface or USB speakers. I got this constantly early in the game with PTF and OS 9.1 on my TiG4. Try updating to OS 9.2.1 or 9.2.2, and make sure you follow all the steps in my post "emi2.6 works with PTF"

Follow the steps in post 2, and it should work.

Go to your extensions manager in your control panel from the apple menu. Set up your extensions so that only the ones utilized for the mac os 9 and protools are selected... Deselect any extension that isn't used when you use protools. I would recomend all internet, ethernet, date and time, and talking bs. Save your new selection as something like "protools" and hit the restart button. You can switch between selections for the different intense programs you run, i.e.--->"protools", "mac OS9 base", and "my selection". After the program restarts go to the "monitors" in the control panel and set it at 256colrs. Go to the mouse controls and set the speed of the track to fast.

These all effect your processor speed.

as i am

Frank had the answer. I pulled the USB on my Harmon Kardon sound sticks and now the bounce feature - and all other functions (so far) work with no problem. Many thanks.
