003 Drivers not showing up in Device Manager
I have an Eleven Rack and 003 Rack.
PT9 is working fine with the Eleven Rack but 003 is not showing up in PT. I installed PT as per Avid directions, ie all hardware drivers installed before installing PT9. Turn Eleven Rack on and it shows up in Device Manager (DM) and no problems either standalone & in PT. Turn 003 on and it doesn't show up in DM or PT. I'm wondering if it is a firewire problem. Have checked cable and connections and they are not faulty. Is there an issue with running Firewire and USB at same time in Win7? All was working fine together on my last system....XP PT8. All latest hardware drivers are installed (before installing PT9) and installed; PT9.02 update. 003Rack driver version v9.0.2.65 Eleven Rack driver v5.10.0.5115 The green 'host 1394' light on the 003R doesn't come on at all (except flashes on & off when 003 turned on). I think it's supposed to be lit when communicating with computer. My wireless and network are turned off when I run PT. Any help would be much appreciated. Re: 003 Drivers not showing up in Device Manager
Ok so I've made some progress on my own here.
I now have got 003Rack to show up in Device Manager. However still not showing up in ProTools. It appears the hardware is talking to each other but the software isn't. My Eleven Rack shows two entries in Device Manager 'Sound Video and Games Controllers'; Digidesign Eleven Rack & Digidesign Eleven Rack RT DFU Whereas my 003Rack only shows one; Digidesign 003Rack I vaguely recall in my PT8 OS there was a RT DFU entry in the Device Manager for the 003Rack. Can someone confirm for me that there should be a DFU in Device Manager for the 003Rack, and if it is supposed to be there why is it not being installed with the rest of the driver installation. I'm suspecting that if I can get an answer to this I'll nearly be there.

Re: 003 Drivers not showing up in Device Manager
More progress,
In PT I go to setup/Hardware and I'm now able to to see either the 003 or the 11R but not both at once. If I open PT with the 11R on and the 003 off the 11R shows up If I open PT with the 003 on and the 11R off the 003 shows up. In PT8 they both showed up and I could switch engines at will Does PT9 work the same or is it different in that only one engine at a time is supposed to show in Hardware setup. Feel free to chime in Avid, since nobody else seems to know.

Re: 003 Drivers not showing up in Device Manager
Wow old thread.
How does one go about finding something in the Device manager that isn't there? What magic wiggle of wires did the poster do, or did he just miss the drivers the first time he looked? My MBox 3 Mini does not fire up, although the blue light is on. I had such high hopes for him. I was going to take good care of him, feed him well, send him to a good school, etc. Where did I go wrong? I suspect my box is fried although how this happened when it worked a week ago is unknown. I unplugged it once when the PC was off, there was no warning in the docs, that you can't unplug it. Has anyone had a similar experience or know what is going on? I'm afraid I have to return this to the stork or Amazon or Avid or something. |

Re: 003 Drivers not showing up in Device Manager
Just from reading this thread, I'm super confident in your advice @zedhed!!! #STOKED Regretfully, I was beckoned away from my studio as soon as I read it. I have the only vehicle capable of transporting the food to my Nieces surprise 21's bday party..... I don't know if anyone else is like me but, when it comes to tech issue I hate distractions. I remember my first time installing Pro Tools. I don't think I left home for hour!!!! I'll be posting a YouTube video as soon as I get this figured out. Because I see a ton of threads related to this and very few answers besides power harness "claims."
