S/PDIF Output on MBox 2 - not listed in I/O

Has anybody ever successfully sent audio out the S/PDIF Output of an MBox 2? When I go into the I/O Setup, there is a S/PDIF input listed, but under the output tab, I only have analog outputs 1 & 2. Is there a way for the MBox to recognize the S/PDIF out? Or is this connector just pretty decoration for the back of the unit?

Any answers on this issue are greatly appreciated.

I have the exactly same problem. The S/PDIF is grayed out... Can someone help us out?

PS: I'm using the M-Box 2 on my MacBook Pro 17" 2 gigs of ram.

S/PDIF output is always hot. No options to set. It's a duplicate of the analog audio output. No need to assign any tracks to S/PDIF. Maybe check your Audio/Midi setup on the mac. I been using digital and analog outs of the Mbox2, with no problems.

the above is correct, the spdif out is a mirror of the analog out. however, the spdif in is separate from the analog in, making the mbox 2 a 4 input, 2 output device.
