I just got an HD Omni to go with my HDX rig. Until now I have had my HDIO 16x16 as the master and the word clock out of it into my Lynx Aurora 16 and then word clock out of the Aurora into my Cranesong HEDD 192.
I'm taking the Aurora out of my system. Seeing as the HD Omni defaults itself to be the first (main) interface and the HD IO 16 shows up as the second interface I am wondering if I should use loop sync instead? And then how to connect the HEDD? Should it come out of the word clock out of the Omni to the HEDD or out of the HD IO 16? Thanks for any input offered. |

Loop sync the Avid boxes, then send ext.clock output to 3rd party boxes

Thanks Janne! Should I take the word clock ou to the HEDD from the Omni or the HD IO 16?

It shouldn't matter at all, because the Avid boxes are loop synced together. I myself would set HD IO as clock master and take the ext.clock from there.

Can someone elaborate on my scenario?
AVID HD Omni, Apogee Rosetta 800 with x-hd Apogee Symphony i/O (most audio dealt with from this box) how would i loop sync the above and be able to use LLM from the OMNI's features but to use the big ben clock of the symphony?

Actually, the Symphony I/O should be loop sync compatible, so therefore loop sync that together with OMNI and then connect ext.clock output to the Rosetta.

cool yeah there's a loop sync port as well as word clock so i assumed so but wondered about choosing Symphony for clock master ... i'm thinking to have omni on port 1 with rosetta daisy chained to that for the first 32 channels, then the symphony (which uses 32 channels in one box) on the second port...
So perhaps, loop sync symphony and omni... then send a wc out of omni to rosetta WC in and another WC out symphony to WC in on a system 6000... am i making sense? thanks muchly :)

Yes it does make sense.
The whole point in syncing things is that all boxes share same clock, which means (in theory) you could take wordclock out from any of the sync'd boxes. I'm not going to get into jitter and time drifting here, just sayin' things are much better now compared to late 90's when digital was a bad word.
