Upgrading from Protools HD 6.9 to 7.4 Any Suggestions?
Hello everyone. I've been using Protools HD on my Dell Precision Dual P4 3gHz computer for about 2 years with no problems. I've seen the Protools 7.4 Upgrade & I think I'm ready to take the plunge.
I have a few questions about the update procedure.... Will I have to uninstall Protools 6.9 Will I have to uninstall my Wave Gold bundle plugins?? I would just like to know what the update/ install procedure will be for the move to Protools HD 7.4 Look forward to your responses.... Thanks... Dave E.

Re: Upgrading from Protools HD 6.9 to 7.4 Any Suggestions?
Your Waves bundle will need to be updated for any newer version of protools. Also, with the troubles that many are having with 7.4, I would wait another month or two and let the dust settle. Keep reading the DUC and watch what people are are saying before taking the plunge. I watched the Elastic Audio demo and want it for sure, but I see too many complaints to jump in right now. As for th uninstall question, Let the new install program detect and instruct you to uninstall the older version.

Agreed.... released a tad too early for my tastes. Elastic is sweet though.

Re: Upgrading from Protools HD 6.9 to 7.4 Any Suggestions?
I have been reading the post here on the DUC, & I agree that it's worth waiting another month or two. Now as for my Waves Gold Bundle, you said I will have to look for the Wave updated plugins software, which I will do. But I'm going to wait some more, maybe till there is a Protools 7.4.1 or a 7.4cs update. I was really just blown away by the new features in 7.4. The elastic audio is just incredible. It will make editing those 30 second spots so much easier, especially with the high speed "Dealer claims" that are speed up for the likes of car commercials.
But I would love to dabble with the elastic audio for music creation too. Really impressive. Well thanks for the info & if there are any more Protools 7.4 users, please add your comments to this post. It's good to hear from everyone. Thanks..
