The best/easiest idea is this

Have a 'note' track ALONG with the automation / panning, etc which you can write things along the entire timeline of a track and its NESTED when you dont want it!!!!!!!, either globally or individually......SUPER easy....AND have one right at the top for overall stuff..........just an empty note track......PLEEEASE....youre welcome

I'm just going to bump this because I was just googling it..

Really, a little notes/notepad window you could have floating would be good..

Windows has Sticky Notes built in. At the moment you can't keep them on top of any window, but you can pin them to the Taskbar.

Any progress made towards this idea?
I swear I saw that this was a feature in a recent PT update, but I'm looking again now and see nothing. Maybe it was a dream?

What I'm looking for is OP's idea of a floating notes window (ideally multiple), but if that doesn't exist, then one that could make notes specific to a playlist and then link itself so that it moves with the playlist.

This is pretty close:

Do you have a new link for that? I clicked on it and the page wouldn't load. I typed it into Google and couldn't find it. This is the one that OP posted a screenshot of, right??

Use track markers now. There is "note" space. You can put them on clips (as clips are in tracks)

Was that implemented in the last update? That may be what I was remembering, but I didn't bother to read the Markers release notes because I thought I remembered a separate Notes thing. Either way, thank you! I'll look into that more right now
