Default "Unable to Link to file"

Hello,

I have been trying to research this but its not helping me.

I have just received a new video from the director. And when I try to import the new video into my session I am getting this pop up - -

"Unable to link to File ********** due to either a missing CODEC or the file may be unsupported."

I asked the director to re send the new updated video and I tried again and still this message.

Other sessions and videos seem to work fine...

Can anyone guide me please?

Thanks so much

You might want to check for illegal / unusual characters in the filename. Maybe rename it to sth simple?
If that's not it open in MPEG Streamclip or vlc player and check the file codec information. Might be a different codec indeed.

...in which case you'll need to transcode to something Pro Tools likes. Streamclip or Quicktime should do the job.

Thanks so much guys,

It worked. I changed the name of the file and saved it somewhere else. Imported into the session with no problems now.

Thanks again
