Default TCE Trim Tool

While multitrack recording a live Latino band, I had a cable failure from the board and lost a vocal track. I did have a CDR of the board mix which I converted to a wav file and imported into PT 10 to mix into the other tracks. Unfortunately, I ran into syncing issues when the board mix was shorter than the PT tracks.

I've been trying to stretch the track with the TCE Trim tool without effective results. When I switch on the tool and drag the end of the clip to where I want it, it renders the new track but the location is way off and seems to only move in very large amounts. I should mention, the session tracks run about 45 minutes.

I may have a setting wrong, I'm working out of the Pro Tools 10 Ignite book and the explanation is poor.

Any thoughts?

I would try elastic audio. Try polyphonic at first. I'd go into the track and hand sync all the songs individually. After you have everything in sync and you like the result, switch the track to x-form. This is a render only process and takes a really long time. You migh be looking at a 3 or 4 hour render. Good luck

I'd use Waves Parametric Sound Shifter; enter in source and destination times and you're good to go. I'm not quite sure why you're having problems with the stock TCE trim (I'd need a better explanation of exactly how you're using it), but it doesn't sound particularly good anyway, so I'm not sure I'd bother.

best,
rich
