Default PT HD 7.4 crashes when closing a session

At least once a day, PT crashes (it does not quit, the magic color ball rolls forever ...) when closing a session.
It happens when the region list window appears (I guess it is the last window before a session is completely closed).

I did all the usual troubleshooting tips ...

Any idea ?

Thanks for your time.

Have you trashed the Digidesign Databases? Try throwing them away from all drives, empty the trash and re-start ProTools. Just a thought, I hope it helps.

Thanks Roy for the reply.
Yes I trashed all database, emptyy the trash and restarted several times but I still have the same problem.
The "funny" thing is that this problem happens on 2 of our 3 macs G5 here.
All 3 macs have the same setup (HD 2 accel), same version of OS, ... but one is still on PT 7.2, this is the one which has no problem closing any session.

Does it happen with multiple sessions or just one? I'm thinking corrupted files could be the problem since it happens at the region list.

It happens with all kinds of sessions, it looks like it is not related to particular sessions.
At onepoint I thought that it might be because I'm used to do a "command + s" just before closing a session, I thought I was doing it too fast before closing ...

It really is random.

This problem happens to different operators using different templates, different hard drives ...

It looks more like a PT bug but I don't understand what it can be related to.

And your setup is?

the setup is :
Mac G5 (2x2,3GHz)
Tiger 10.4.11 (not sure of that, it might be 10.4.9, I'm not at the studio now)
PT HD 7.4 cs8
Audio on internal SATA drive (not the system drive)

The same setup works without any problem with PT HD 7.2

Hm. Seems ok. Have you also tried trashing all PT prefs and checked if all the plugs and 100% compatible?

Have you tried any of the other troubleshooting, such as testing from a different drive, testing from a new admin account, removing all plug-ins and testing, etc?

Make sure ALL plug-ins are compatible, as Frank said - having even one incompatible plug-in installed can cause all kinds of problems. You can use the Tech Support Utility from the General Troubleshooting thread to post a plug-in version list. The plug-in compatibility grid can be found here.

Thank you for the answers.
Yes, all prefs were trashed, did not install on another admin account, system drive is always the same but different audio drives are used and same behavior no matter which audio hard drive is used (internal SATA, Glyph FW400, ...), did not remove all plug ins.

I checked the compatibility page but it says that PT 7.1 to PT 7.4 uses the same plug ins version.
We have 3 mac, 2 are completely identical (same OS, same plug ins, ...) except that one has PT HD 7.2 and one has PT HD 7.4
The PT HD 7.4 machine has that problem and not the other.
The other machine showing the same problem has PT HD 7.4 and other plug ins installed (which were fine under 7.2).

I'll get a plug ins list ASAP

Thank you for your time

Pascal

PS : we also installed Leopard and PT HD 8 on an external HD to test PT HD 8, we never had this particular problem during our testing (we used the 2 "problematic" machines for the testing)
