Default Copy,and pasting vocals????

Im primarily recording hiphop, and usually I just copy and paste the chorus, but usually I have to do a bit of sliding to get the vocals to line up right. The hook usually comes in every 16 bars. Is there a easier way to do this? Thanks.

If I understand you correctly, you want to be working with bars and beats in grid mode, set your grid to 1 bar and you should have no problems, - unless of course you are not working with bars and beats - then you're in for a fun night of slipping and sliding.

Sorry if I sound dumb, but I dont understand. I sequence my track and then I sync my Mpc to Pro Tools, and dump the beat in. What would you suggest I do? I want the hook to come in every 16 bars, and I've been copy and pasting, and then sliding until it sounds right.

There are so many ways to tell you how to do this... but it's difficult to know where to start...

1. Have you created a tempo map/grid for your song in Pro Tools?

2. Do you know how to use Identify Beat?

3. Have you ever worked in Grid Mode?

4. Even without being in Grid Mode.. using Tab To Transient you can select your vocals lined up to the first kick or snare of the chorus and then paste using the same kick or snare in the next chorus.

You may need to read the manual for more options... and to learn to use command focus keyboard shortcuts to move selections between tracks.
