Real Time Properties in MIDI w/ regard to Playlists
Another thing that really slows down a session is the Real Time Properties on Midi/Inst tracks. When I create a new playlist, the RTP that I have set up go back to default. However, when I duplicate a track, they remain. Either way, its several steps to restore the RTP's to the setup which I configured. Why wouldn't the new playlist just keep the same properties? Is there a pref for this? Do the designers/engineers of PT USE PT, or do they just write code?

You could view this as an interpretation of Playlists.
This would be cool however. filosofem |

If you want the same RTP on a new playlist, duplicate the playlist. Quote:

I can see your point, but if you're transposing for the key and doing a bunch of takes, it just makes sense to keep that property active. Adding a pref, or some sort of lock on the RTP view would be a GREAT addition! Maybe in 8.1?

Ummm… If you're making another playlist "just" to try different settings for RTP, wouldn't you be duplicating the playlist? Thus defeating that purpose? But I could see benefits either way.

For the OP - when you duplicate, isn't it as easy as doing a triple click on the track to select all the data, then delete it to have a new playlist with the same RTP? What about creating several playlists with the same RTP before you even start recording - that way you can just switch to a new one whenever you're ready to do another take? I'll log your suggestion for 'retaining RTP for new playlists', too... |

I couldn't imagine it any other way...
Now I envision all the calls from customers wondering why their system doesn't work like their buddies because they don't know where the preference is...! See what I mean? |
