Default midi real time properties issues

Project plays great, tracking gets progress.
close PT: come in next sesh and
midi real time properties are all jacked.
It seems like groove template is the culprit as I uncheck and recheck and seems to make things better.
Is this tool known to be defective?
Not impressed with midi handling in PT so far, any secrets or tips welcomed.

also SD 2.0 is crashing randomly
buf set to 64
SD2.0 is at 99 99 99
