Default system lags

hey all... how you guys. and girl doing?
i seem to have a problem, i had a session earlyer yesterday morning and all was weel with my HD system(muh baby) and well not any more...see when i want to record and play at the same time from the start of the song i seem to have a lag of about four to five second then it will start recording...any thought on this, one of my workers was tring to figure it out but no luck...anyhw i was able to deal with it, but its pain in the @$$!, if any one could tell me what i need to do to fix that it would be great.

Check in your preferences that allocating the entire drive for recording is not set and set the time to roughly 30-60 minutes. This should do it.

Previous post absolutely right but I would add that you should also check your disc allocations.
Maybe some tracks are targeted on the wrong drives.

I use external SCSI drives for sessions, and when I started with PT I used templates.
If ever I forgot to change disk allocations, it would write tracks on the internal 5400rpm drive in the mac and everything would get soooo sloooow, exactly as you describe !

I have a similar problem, it's probably due to me over looking something though. When I hit record, theres a delay, so I have to use quick punch alot. I've gone through and can't find a pre-count for record. Turned the midi one off with no success.
