Default New Euphonix System-5 MC DAW Controller

If someone is at AES, can they check this out and tell me what they see. This looks like it will be the competition with the ICON, and I am curious what they offer.

It controls Nuendo and Pyramix.

Get a price too if you can.

Andrew,
I recieved a Private demo of the new Euphonix System 5- Mc DAW Controller. It was very well laid out and the screen position (LCD) is counter sunk so that it doesn't rise above the meter bridge. The system will be available in April. If it had controlled Pro Tools then it might have been pretty exciting but it doesn't. It was controlling Pyramix and Nuendo and seemed to be working fine. The cost will be equivelent to "The Icon".

Any idea what the MC edit controller was worth? (just the keyboard and all the soft lcd keys etc).

VERY exciting to read Nuendo 3 was released at AES..... Sounds like more PT information will be imported/exported via AAF - anybody have more information about that?

Good news Dr. Sound,

I don't think Pro Tools control would be possible...as Digi would sell fewer icons if they allowed that. I should say it could be possible...but they woldn't allow it. If Pro Tools could be controlled in the same manner as Nuendo and Pyramix...the System-5 MC would be the king DAW controller.

The way Digidesign makes money, is establishing a closed loop system...keeping things within (ie. Icon control Pro Tools and that's it]. I don't blame them, they have to. If they opened up too easily, they would lose even more sales to competition.

Default AAF

Matt does AAF even work as it is?

I've read things on their forum where it wasn't working for people. Even worse than OMF?

Currently there are already ways to convert between Pro Tools and Nuendo perfectly...writing a Pro Tools session directly from a Nuendo project...

The only reason why I could see AAF working, is receiving audio from pix editorial...but OMF works perfectly fine as it is into Nuendo...so I question what AAF is actually for?

I'm not sure if AAF works, I've not found anything that can import it.

I've found that OMF's from PT don't contain volume information going to Nuendo v2 (directly - not using AV transfer or anything else) And I found OMF's from Nuendo didn't contain all edits - coming from vs 1.5

I think they're claiming volume automation will follow now, plus they've added a similar rubber band volume automation thing.

How much does Euphonix sell the System-5 Mc for a DAW setup? The Euphonix System 5- Mc DAW Controller seems to well designed with quality compared to the ICON mouse...

How about the MC Intelligent Application Controller very nice.........

Digi always comes up with a product that is cheap and charges mega bucks........

Surely it will control PT in HUI mode.
