PT 10 Taking Forever To Open
I just upgraded from PT 9 to 10 and I am having a couple of problems.
1. the system is taking forever to boot, like 5-10 minutes. 2. System chugs along just fine with very low CPU utilization...until it spikes and the program freezes, then...see one above. My apoligise if there is an ocean of information out there but I searched and didnt see anything. Unfortuantly I am not at my Studio computer so I can not send a Sandra Rpt right now. But I am using Windows 7 (64) and an 003+ 12gb ram (brain is fried thats all I can remember at this moment, hence the frustrated msg). (I have been running PT9 for ages with no problems) Anyone else experiencing this? Gotts any suggestions to share? Thanks Steve |

Re: PT 10 Taking Forever To Open
Did you uninstall 9 first? You need to uninstall 9 first. The first time i opened up 10 it took a while but now opens up fine.

Re: PT 10 Taking Forever To Open
Yes, I did, it would not let me install 10 without uninstalling PT9. It definnitly opens more quickly than it did the first time but its still unbearable :-(.
I'm quite sure its an oversight somewhere on my part but for the life of me I cant figure out where. |

Re: PT 10 Taking Forever To Open
Looks like the old versions of some of my McDSP plugins are still loading in addition to the new V 5. but all of the plugins seem to load slow (Including the Avid ones).
I have boon looking around for how to manually move Plugins onto the Unused folder but havent found anything here, on GS or in the gulp, reference guide.. Any suggestions on the best way to do that? I was thinking if it was an easy process, I would just ove plugins in there one by one to see if I can find the offender. Also, all of the old versions of my NI plugins are still loading and I dont really use them (is Kontakt 3 & 4 are no longer used.) As usual, any help is appreciated. Thanks Steve |

Re: PT 10 Taking Forever To Open
Sounds like you may need to clean up your plugins folder and check for latest versions.
First launch is always slow. Same thing after deleting digisetup / dae prefs. It needs to rebuild those. From there on it should be much faster though. Chris

Re: PT 10 Taking Forever To Open
Chris, I agree. What folder do I need to remove the Plugins fro to do this? It gets confusing. I think I may have some reminants from previous versions of PT and, I'm a drummer so I need a little help.

Go to. Program files x86> Common files> Digidesign> DAE> Plug-ins.

Re: PT 10 Taking Forever To Open
LOL .... that makes 2 of us then. Not really an expert on Windows myself I'm afraid but yeah ... go with Tom's suggestion and check the versions in the plugins folder.
You may want to create a temp folder called (plugs unused) or something like that and move suspects over there. What O have done in the past is move EVERYTHING over there except for the mix engine plugins and some of the digirack plugins. Then step by step move them back. That's helped me find the bad boys in the past. Chris
