F keys shortcuts

I'm a big fun of shortcuts and I love the F keys to select edit tools and modes.
Today when I pressed the F keys I got the message:
"The F1 through F12 keys can be set up to open an application, document, server, or other item, such as an apple script. You can set up the F1 through F12 keys in the keyboard control panel".
I'm not the only engineer in the studio; somebody might have changed some settings...
How do I get the lovely shortcuts back?

These are not set up in Protools afaik, they can be assigned in the Keyboard control panel, but not to functions within Protools without first making an applescript to activate the particular apple events etc. There's plenty of shortcuts using the command, shift, control, and option keys however.

I've been using the F keys for the standard shortcuts (F1 to F4 for shuffle, slip, spot, grid, F5 to F10 for all the edit tools and F12 to start and stop recording) since I bought the 001 with PT LE 5.0 a year ago, every day until today when for the first time I got the error message mentioned above.

What happened?

I'm so used to using those shortcuts that I keep pressing the F keys anyway and getting the error message way too often, wasting a lot of time clicking on the cancel button and getting irritated. I really need them back...

Do I need to make an Apple Script? How?

No panic. No need to make Applescripts (which won't work with Pro Tools anyway).

Just go to the systems keyboard control panel and when there, to the function keys option. Disable them from being in "hot" mode.
