Cool Pro Tools Seminar at Guitar Center

I got an email from Guitar Center, and I also have seen this on Avid's site, that Guitar Center was giving 5 one hour seminars featuring Pro Tools 10.

OK OK I signed up just on the off chance that there was some SWAG I could snag and the chance to interface with other users locally.

To my surprise there only two others that showed up at the first session, none for the next two and one today.

Why do I keep going back? Because the poor guy that got tapped to be the trainer is SOOOOOOO lost it isn't funny and I hate to see anyone so uncomfortable with a task.

Now, I do not at all consider myself an expert, but I have been using PT since 7.0 (MP and LE) and I do what I do with it pretty well. So I wound up answering the questions not only from the attendees but also from the trainer.....

Today, the trainer just handed the "keys" over to me and watched as I went through their script rather hurriedly and answer questions from a very interested attendee for more than an hour. I think he is sold....where is my commission...

The point? I guess no point really, other than repaying what I have gotten from this community, what I have learned through my reading, and through making stoopid mistrakes...

Check one out if you have the opportunity and the time, and give back if possible.

Or nobody takes GC serious as a learning node for PT.

I don't think there are many that take GC seriously for anything.

I think it is a little of both.

But seriously, if you think about it, how could 5, one hour seminars do much more than touch on the highlights? I am fairly certain that this was meant to be a "come and meet ProTools, see what it can do" sort of thing and "By the way you can buy it from us before you leave the store."

As I said, I was mainly looking to snag some SWAG if there were any and meet other local users. I just felt sorry for the trainer/demonstrator and wanted to help him out.

And ya know what? I got a new project out of the deal too!
