Default after months...pro tools can't find mbox

i have been using pro tools 8 le for months on my labtop. and this morning when i go to open it...it gives me the sign to make sure the hardware is plugged in and on. it is....so i unplug it and plug it back in. still nothing. i reboot. same outcome. i uninstall and re install several times. i manually pointed pro tools in the direction of the hardware and drivers and manually installed them. But when i open pro tools it still says to connect the hardware(mbox mini) this comes after a few months of use...........

any ideas? i have not changed any settings on the pc. no new downloads.
please>?? i am getting desperate

So is Pro Tools installed? Did you try another USB cable? Another USB port? Don't know if it will help, but there are 3 threads you should look at(especially if you have Windows automatic updates turned ON).
