Default Elastic - X-Form MOAN MOAN MOAN

Why is it, when using an X-Formed file, that even the simplest of functions - separate at selection, a tiny trim at the start of the file - take SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO godamn long to do? It's like it has to re-examine the WHOLE file all over again, just for the simplest of edits. WHY can't it just examine the bit that's changed - in the case of separate at selection, nothing HAS changed - instead of re-examining the whole file again???

Sort it out Digi! ta

Yea, EA is a great concept, but it needs to go to the next level. . .

Are you trying to do edits with real-time EA enabled on a track?

If so - you may want to rethink that approach. You should render any EA tracks before doing edits or fades as, yes, every time you make an edit, it has to analyze the file again.

Hi TechSupt,
yes that's true. But why does committing an EAed (X-formed) audio track take forever? I think the maths was done when I selected X-form as the EA algorithm.

Kind regards

Mark

Because every time you make an edit, it has to reanalyze the entire file(s). It has to look at the new length and process every sample in the file again to 'create' the new algorithms associated with the file so that, if you were to stretch or compress it, it would know how to process the audio.

There is also an issue with X-Form that is contributing to the time it takes to process - there are some optimizations being done that should improve the performance significantly and they'll be rolled into an upcoming CS release.

Hi TechSupt,
thanks for your answer but I think you misunderstood me: When I'm done with all the editing and XForm took a while to recalculate after each edit why does it take so much time again when all I do is committing/rendering?
As Xform is an offline process everything is already rendered, why does it render again?

Kind regards

Mark
