I'm trying to find the keyboard shortcut for relocating the edit cursor to the play start marker, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know it off the top of their head?

Do you mean 00:00:000? If so, hit enter on your keyboard after you stop.

i'm not understanding the question exactly but maybe you need to Link Timeline and Edit Selection? it's the button directly right of the a...z at the top left of the Edit window.

otherwise, during playback, push the down arrow to relocate the "edit" cursor to current playback time.

Nope, those don't do it. If you link the time line and edit selection it relocates the edit cursor to the play start marker, which is the opposite of what I want to do. Maybe if I explain the context. Using the dynamic transport with link time line and edit selection turned off (that's part of the point in this case) I relocate the play start marker to a memory location using the numeric key pad. Now, if I press play it plays from the right place, but what I want to do is snap a region to the memory location I've just relocated the play start marker to using the Start key and the mouse without changing the current time line edit selection. What happens though, is the region snaps to where ever the edit cursor is and not where the play start marker is.
