Default Importing OMF with PT

I've done a search and found nothing particualrly helpful on the topic, so if anyone can help, that'd be great.

I want to know if i need the Digitranslator or another thing to import OMF files, from programs like Digital Performer.

Yeah you need the Digitranslator 2.0 option which costs about $500. You can also get the DV Toolkit option for that which has the Digitranslator and TimeCode and Feet/Frames rulers along with DINR LE and Vocalign LE.

Does anyone else think that the prices of DigiTranslator and DV Toolkit are pretty excessive considering that those functions are included free in just about all the other major DAW programs (Cubase SX, Digital Performer & Logic amongst others)?!?

Not only excessive but downright obsurd!!! I have wanted to jump ship (for this reason) for a while but I am too productive and comfortable w/ PT to do so. I hope digi is smart enough to take its cue from Avid and realize that there are many "Final Cut Pros" to go to here in audio land. I freakin' own DV Toolkit and was mad as hell while I was ordering it knowing I still won't have Surround capabilities. Nickle and freakin' dime. $20 just to make MP3's. (paid for that too) The Mac OS does it free with iTunes. I have seen responses from Digi saying that these "extras" are available because not every body uses them. That's total BS I don't use midi but I still have it. Why not charge $300 less so I can get a version that only does audio? Anyway........I won't leave Digi anytime soon but my eyes and ears are wandering. Sorry didn't mean to go OT just ranting....Peace.
