That's true.....I have seen it as well. When you have all the outboard a guy could ever dream of and a nice room, well PT8 didn't even cross his mind.

A neve console and several mic's that were worth more than my car.....upgrade what?

Bob, you are completely avoiding the main point of this thread and you haven't directly addressed a single rebuttall point that I have made to your assertion's. Not one. That is your perogitave of course but it doesn't go unnoticed.

Werner, obviously it would be wonderful if there were more AAX DSP plug-ins but the financial facts of life are that HDX is nowhere near as necessary for most users as TDM was a decade ago and no plug-in developer is likely to throw their company under the bus financially in order to support such a narrow market. Plug-in developers know better than anybody who really uses what. So does Avid.

The only people who seem to be having a problem with the lack of AAX-DSP support at this point are folks running virtual instruments. The vast majority of these folks I know have been using MIDI sequencer-based native DAWs for years and not Pro Tools for their compositions. As for people mixing hit records, the ones I know using PT11 are using HD Native systems that replaced their HD3 and HD4 systems.

VI's and AAX-DSP are not the point. VI's have mostly always been Native so it's not like suddenly we cannot live with Native VI's.

It's the other way around, everything you need to be able to track with virtually zero latency.

So exactly what can you not track because there is no DSP plug-in available?

Why do you need to use all native plug-ins?

Because of the lack of DSP plugins, perhaps?
