Default Manual Delay Compensation on Master Fader?

So was speaking to a colleague today and he thinks delay must be compensated for on a single master fader in the session. I don't think it will have any effect on anything but would love to know if I'm wrong. What do you say DUC?

delay compensation must happen on a per track basis to be useful.
so, you´re right.
maybe he meant it the other way around.
because the last channel that needs ADC is the master fader
(unless you have several masterfaders with delay causing plug-ins)

nah he was trying to blast me for having 64samples of delay on all my audio and aux tracks (used tmadjstrsh) and a whopping 1727samples on my master fader due to OZONE. Told him it didn't matter. he thinks i need to push everything back to the 1727samples. He sounded like he knew more than me so i thought i would ask people i KNOW, know more than me.

oh forgot to say thank you :) and good afternoon

The only time that this might make a difference would be if you are sending any Tracks out different output other than the master. If all your tracks are going out the master, then every thing will still be in sync. Delay Comp is needed for multiple tracks that have different latency's. I know that's not the best explanation, but you are fine with your setup.

does anyone have the tg12413 from Chandler/ Abby reporting latency in LE? I show 0 latency but it looks like 64 samples on this machine. I think the videos confused me more than anything. Prob cause I thought i knew what was going on.

haha ok now im really confused. when i swap the limiter and the dealy plug the damn thing lines up perfect.

Thank god its almost time to go home. Could this be do to one being a stareo track and one mono?

:EDIT: im at a loss at to what was cusing the 64samples of latency. just built a new test session and its gone. So is the Chandler/ Abby limiter 0 latency?

IDK about that specific limiter, but delay on a master fader can be an issue if you're processing audio for video. E.g., if audio tracks from a video were given to you to clean up/level out and your output will be imported back into a video editor. Then you must account for all delay, including from plugs on the master fader, or it won't line up right.
