sporadic loss of audio from system
Hi,
Until recently I had been using my computer hard-drive to record audio (not much though) unaware that Digisedign didn't recommend this. Sometimes this was beginning to result in no sound from my system. I bought a hard-drive and everything was fine with this (seagate for Mac) and I transferred all my audio to this no problems. However, This problem of no sound has returned together with clicks from the computer. This suggests to me the hard-drive was damaged by playing the audio. Does this seem like a proper diagnosis? All the graphics are fine and the Mac is still fine with other souces of Audio (itunes etc) Problem is if I replaced the internal hard-drive I assume I will have to install all my programs again (Pro-tools, NI etc). Hope not as they are all in Mongolia and I am in Korea. I am taking my system to Seoul on Saturday. Is there any way of doing this without the use of the CD's....... Thanks for any help in advance. To troubleshoot properly we'll need more info - which Mac model, how everything is connected, which OS version and Pro Tools version, etc. See the Help Us Help You thread for details about what we need to know... |

Re: sporadic loss of audio from system
Thanks.
Here's a run down of my set-up. MacBook Pro osx 10.4.11 - 2.33GHx, Intel Core 2. 2GB 667MHz DDD2. Project Mix Pro-tools M-powered 7.1.1 with Music Production Toolkit. Seagate Freeagent 500 for Mac. All connections are FW400 (i.e ProMix to Mac and Mac to Seagate) M-Audio Firewire 1.3.2. All the installations were done by Digitalvillage in the UK at time of purchase I really need to get this fixed as I have had this system for over two years and it has never really worked correctly (in part due to recently aquired separate hard-drive, I'm sure). I just want to get back to making music!! Hope you can help.. Thanks |

Re: sporadic loss of audio from system
Thanks for replying.
As for the Firewire, I am using an adapter. However, the loss of audio problems were present before I was using the seagate (i.e using the internal drive). I'll try these recommendations tonight and see how I get on. Thanks again. |
