Default Secondary internal drive vs external drive for PT8 ?

I'm pretty shure I know the answer to this but would like confirmation.
When it comes to PT8 and recording I guess the best alternative is having two internal drives (one for system and one for recording) rather than one internal system disk and one external disk for recording ?

As far as I know internal drives are much faster than external disks going through the firewire protocol ?

External FW800 drives are the only way to go, if you do not want a mountain of error messages in PT8.

A second internal drive should yield the best performance(if its SATA, its a hands down winner).

I have never had a hard disk issue when recording to a second internal SATA drive.

I have both but prefer the second internal drive.
