Default Anyone Having Success With 1155 Socket?

Title says it all. If you have a solid/stable Pro Tools DAW on an 1155 socket CPU/MOBO I'd like to hear about it.

I ordered parts for my new LGA 1155 P67 build yesterday. I should have done more research first, because after reading this forum, I realize that 1155 isn't the best choice, but I'm curious to know if anyone is having success with this type of setup.

Sure wish you had asked BEFORE you ordered the parts. My 1155(2500K) on an Asus P8P67 was and is a total bust for Po Tools. But it makes a real nice office machine There are only 2 builds I would consider for Pro Tools today. i7 socket 1366/X58mobo/Triple-channel RAM( modest budget) and i7 socket 2011/X79 mobo/Quad channel RAM(best). These 2 setups are solid, compatible and everything else you need. Anything else(1155, 1156, AMD) is a crapshoot.

Having said that, maybe your rig would kick butt as a hackintosh?(that's why I chose those parts, but I never got the final step to take so I gave up after 4 days of fussing and loaded Windows 7 x64).

I have been using a PC build around Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 (i7 2600K cpu) and it seems to work just fine and it has LGA1155 socket.

I am interested in knowing why this should not work?

1155s have on die GPUs. Since integrated graphics are not compatible with Pro Tools, it's not a recommended setup. However, many motherboards do have well managed switching and options to disable completely.

On the flip side, the 1155 makes a very GOOD hackintosh/customac setup because most Macs run the 1155 chipset.

I didn't say it would NOT work. I said its a crapshoot. If you like to gamble, roll the dice. If you want the sure thing........

OK, thanks, makes sense. Naturally the first thing I did when building this one was to turn the integrated graphics off (BIOS has all the switches) and installed a separate PCI graphics card. Seems to work with no problems at least with my setup.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not interested in Hackentosh's. This will be a Windows based DAW.

It turns out that the MOBO I ordered was D.O.A so I sent it back. Since Niilo Nuori is having success with the Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3, and the RAM I have just so happens to be on its QVL, that's the MOBO I'll pick up for my replacement.

Anyone else out there running PT on a Windows based LGA 1155 machine?

How heavy are the sessions that you're running? (track count, plugins, virtual instruments, sample rate ect.)
