Re: Crackling when moving windows??
The Avid moderator at Ideascale thinks we have a configuration problem. He suggests an "email support case." Not sure what that means. I hope it's not the thing where you have to pay.

Re: Crackling when moving windows??
What? Do you mean undo all the recommended optimizations? Are you sure that doesn't mess up something else, like preventing the ability to cancel a bounce?

Re: Crackling when moving windows??
Aero? I would love it if we could have Aero on. I don't care about Run as Admin. I've had it set that way permanently. Hmm. I believe I am totally up to date, Windows-wise. I'll have to try tonight.

Re: Crackling when moving windows??
this is interesting, i noticed this problem on my system too
i'm all up to date, PT 9.0.2 and windows i always keep up to date. i had be running with aero off, as directed but i'm going to experiment with turning it back on today. i have a EVGA 8600 GT card, a working theory for this might be that windows uses hardware acceleration for aero but if you disable aero it doesn't take advantage of the hardware, putting the load for the graphics on the CPU. what does anybody think of that theory? (session about to start on this way-too-nice-out-to-be-in-the-studio day, i'll report if i notice anything weird with aero on) |

Re: Crackling when moving windows??
One more factor to throw in the mix. I was unable to replicate the problem this weekend. The only change that I'm aware of is that my DSL router went down. I won't have internet at home until the new router arrives in about a week, so I won't be able to compare until then. But I think I remember other people mentioning that PT9 doesn't work completely right for them unless the network adapter is disabled. It may be that this is one more way in which PT, as wonderful as it is in so many ways, is the only DAW not compatible with the 21st century.

Re: Crackling when moving windows??
Yeah! It is so weird that an industry standard is so broken!
Plus lacking alot of obvious features(offline bounce, the ability to do per-region volume editing like reaper/cubase, a way to load a project without turning on fx so if you have a broken project because of fx, you can still open it and edit it... Etc etc.. Track folders as well!! I came from reaper to pt and I am missing so many obvious features.. I just wish my work didn't use pt, the. I didn't have to use it as well... Well - rant over and have a great Easter everyone!:) |

Re: Crackling when moving windows??
ok... so i said hurray too soon.
Its still not completely solved. Anyone solved this in the meantime? I tried doing EVERYTHING in avids "optimizing windows for audio" guide. The crackling is alot less frequent than in the beginning, but it is still there. I can see the CPU meter in PT go up in the read for a millisecond whenever i scroll up/down/adjust eq curves on eqs etc. So it only has to do with graphics somehow, it seems... I dont have the soundcard sharing irq's with the graphics card - so i still dont know what to do. -i think i'll try to run it in windows XP SP2 mode and see if that helps. -please post any hints:) |
