Default Suddenly getting CPU overload errors (-1928)...

A few days ago, I suddenly started getting CPU overload errors (-9128). Nothing about my setup has recently changed and PT's been running very smoothly.

My system:
HD3 on 4-core Mac Pro with 8GB RAM running PT8.01cs1 (HD cards installed internally.

Solutions I've tried:
1. Tried many sessions (new and old) with same errors.
2. Changing audio drive(s) (internal and external).
3. Trashing PT prefs.
4. Disk verification.
5. Changing Playback Engine settings by increasing buffer sizes and changing CPU usage.
6. Disk verification.

Again, PT was running perfectly until, quite suddenly, the errors started coming at a rate that makes it difficult to be productive.

Any suggestions/comments welcome!

Thx!

Hi,

Did you go through all the search results?...

http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?query=9128 lots of refs to BFD lite

Well reading through your post it seems you've tried most troubleshooting stuff!! only thing i don't see is did you trash the database files on all hard drive partitions and the database in app support/digidesign.

use this app to trash prefs and database files...

http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=190122

Next thing to do would be a re-install of PT! use the uninstaller in the applications/digidesign folder to uninstall PT and select the safe uninstall option which will leave all third party plugins etc and only remove the main PT files. after uninstall. reboot the mac. repair disk permission. re-install PT8 then the cs1 update. Now you have renewed the PT app files, so any corruption there should be fixed now.

If its still not fixed after above then it is most likely hardware!! so you've tried different drives!! did you start a new fresh session on a different drive and use import session data!!! this you would need to do to eliminate and session corruption.

So you definitely haven't changed anything in your setup? didn't install anything on the mac? didn't add any external hardware USB/Firewire etc!!

Hi,

Actually its not too big a deal to reinstall PT, you will only be reinstalling the fundamental PT files and not the third party stuff. it shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes using the safe uninstall option!!
