Default Pro Tools 12.5

Just seen a video about 12.5, though I am unsure if this is already out or old news ?

So asking here, any dates on its release ? Or is it out already ?

Now onto the real question. In the video I seen some great features (that are not the cloud collaboration thing), and I am curious if they were introduced in 12.5 ? Or are they already there in 12, .1, .2, .3 ? etc.. ?

They were:

1 - Ability to drag your midi track regions onto a blank track and they appeared there as real audio with the plugs (if any) mixed into the real audio.

2 - Ability to right there in the session on the spot convert a track (midi or real audio) with tons of plug ins on it to real audio with all the plugs mixed into it, WITH the ability to undo it at any time later back to the original and have all plugs active again too. That undo feature was DOPE ! Like a advanced version of "Freeze" with ability to "Unfreeze" (or melt) at any time later.

3 - The ability to set up a loop like feature for your real audio or midi so that when you clicked and drug the region out, it just automatically kept looping the material in the region.

Are these features already in 12 ? Or only in 12.5 ?

Thanks -

This pretty much lays out the last few releases.

12.5 is currently in public beta. It'll be released when it's done.

Google: "what's new in pro tools" and let the autofill show the various version numbers, then have at it.

software gets released when one of two things happen..... either the product managers say so, or the bean counters say so.

IOW, no idea.

So what about #1 and #3, are they only in 12.5 ?

Or if already a feature, at what update did they arrive ?

He basically said google it

But #1 sounds like commit and

#3 sounds like it's not super necessary and you could do it another way.

Fwiw ymmv and don't blame me I'm just the messenger

Oh believe me, I know other ways and your right, its not necessary at all. Been using PT Mix, Hd, Accel, etc.. since 1998. lol (please don't take that the wrong way, I'm not bragging)

My question is less about the whys and hows, and more a question about what release point did this feature come about ? I have specific reasons for the question that are too much to explain why.

Tried google, I do not see my answer quicker than I used to be able to get it here, but it seems this place has dried up or something :-(

Didn't really have time to search and search through release notes, etc.. and the Avid site is a super pain to navigate through now-a-days. Ohhhh how I miss Digidesign days.

Anyway them 2 features can be seen in that video Avid sent us all recently on the 12.5 update. Kinda toward the beginning.

The midi drag and drop to audio works in 12.4 and is pretty quick.

Hey thanks for the answers guys !

Good, it looks like my subscription will just barely make it to get 12.5 (lol)

So quick question about the other feature of Freeze.

If you freeze a instrument track with midi, etc.. notice how the wave form also still contains the midi notes towards the bottom there ? Just curious, if you were to then give it to someone on a older version of PT, lets say 11. Would they be able to unfreeze it ? Obviously not right ?

Also, what would the freezed track look like to them ? Would they still be able to see the little midi notes within the track too, like the frozen track in 12.4 ?
