I have had so much problem with Mbox 3 Pro too.
Some of them seem to have gone with the few upgrades, but others not.
Actually the headphone noise has disappeared.
But others still remain.
It seems to be software problems both in the units internal firmware(crashes when you turn the volume knob) and with the drivers on the mac side(The Mbox Pro MIDI device in Audio MIDI Setup, gets duplicated on each power up of the device)
Plus low latency monitoring only work randomly!

And no, they don't respond to support, because they are aware of it all!
It obviously great sound quality, converting and Mic pre's and the hardware seems to be very well designed. But on the software side it obviously had to go very fast getting it out. And they obviously has decided not to fix it.

This makes MBox 3 Pro, AVID's most fatal project to date. I would'nt recommend anyone buying it.

But you just have to live with it. Be prepared that you may need to restard it several times a day! Don't turn the volume knob too much (use a seperate mixer)! Clean up the MIDI settings once a week. If you need to do low latency monitoring, open the control panel(That also crashes regulary, btw.) and maually turn up the channel you need to monitor)
- But then it is possible to 'live with it'. I do, but I paid half price for it as they ran a student offer two tears ago, so I don't feel as cheated as those who paid the full price.

Yeah - sorry for the bad news, but it's better people know the truth!

@The Weed

The solution was resolved when I started to play around with the input/outputs for the Stereo, Headphone, Mic placements in the Control Panel for the Mbox transferring from the hardware into the software.

The volume keys were actually what the issue was, on the digital end, I had turned all of them all the way up not realizing it was causing an overload of what I could only describe as "white noise", when putting the volumes all the way down that I would not be using, The white noise became no-more and all I really had to sustain were the volumes that were going to be in use.

From that point, it resolved my white noise problem.

The recording end was to figure out the input/outputs with in each track.

I hope this helps.
