Default ProTools interfacing w/ OS Midi software

Well? Can I run the midi tracks in my ProTools session straight out of the Mac OS9 QuickTime Midi sequencer/driver? I'm designing music for a Mac-Based games and the midi files will be played back through the OS anyway...

Yes, you can have Pro Tools trigger the QuickTime Musical Instruments sound module. This is a General MIDI, multitimbral sound module which is included with the Macintosh Operating System. In order to take advantage of this "virtual synthesizer," you need to enable its operation through OMS. Launch the OMS setup application. In the studio setup window, double click the QuickTime Musical Instrument icon and click the radio button next to the word "on". Click the "OK" button, choose "save" from the file menu and quit OMS Setup. The tones generated by QuickTime Musical Instruments, will be outputted via the Macintosh Sound Manager (i.e. the internal speaker). Because of this, you will need open the Sound Control Panel and set the Sound Output option to "Built In". In order to route this signal elsewhere in your studio (such as a channel on a mixer) you need to connect a cable from the stereo miniplug (1/8") jack located on the rear of the computer.
