Default HDD recommendation?

Hello, I was wondering if I could get a bit of advice on the best HDD to use as my main Pro Tools recording drive (i.e. not the OS drive). I've got about £100 to spend, but would like to spend less if I can.

I've got a spare internal 6Gb SATA slot on my motherboard, so was planing on using that (although I have a USB3 slot spare too..?)

I've done a bit of research and seen a few people on here recommending the WD Black drives, but I also saw a Seagate Barracuda for nearly half the price.

I'm just doing a bit of amateur music making at home, so it seems prudent to go for the cheaper option, unless I'm missing something?

Anyone have any thoughts or other recommendations? And is it sensible to go for a nice big drive (2Tb?) or something smaller?

Thanks!

I use to be a Seagate guy but I had a high parentage of a large buy fail (covered under warranty, they were scratch drives)
but I'm a WD Black guy for spinners now

if you were on this side of the pond and had $500, I just saw a deal on 840EVO 1TB

I also had some bad experiences with Seagate Barracudas... Went WD Black, and never looked back.

No issues here with the Seagates, but I am also moving to mostly WD Caviar Black for all but system.

Thanks. Is there much to choose between the two in terms of noise?

I us a WD Black 2.5" in my Laptop , awesome performance.
it gets warm though.

Thus I was pondering the 3.5" WD Black, too. But decided for a Hitachi,
HGST 7K rpm, 4TB drive, that I got a few months back.
Besides that it's certified for 24/7 usage, this drive rocks.
Rock solid performance. It is always quite warm but never gets hot,
and remarkably silent, barely noticable.
The think is wiht most 7K RPM drives, most noise come from drive vibration.
So you need something to hold fix the drive in stable housing.

But Hitachi HDD section was bought by WD, a IIRC.
