Default How to play back faster than 1X speed?

I'm running PT 12.4.0. My work is not very demanding for PT as I do mostly voice over work and audiobook production. It would be really helpful if I could play back at faster than 1X speed during editing. The shortcut pdf only lists a way to do it on PT HD.

Is there a way to do this with what I've got? If so, how?

Thanks.

Enable elastic audio on all tracks, increase the tempo.

This, but remember to have your tracks in TICKS mode Then there is also the TC{E tool that can shorten an audio file(which will speed it up but without raising the pitch). These tricks are used a lot in advertising as a way of cramming a lot of announcement into a few seconds at the tail of an ad spot).

Why not just use the shuttle lock varispeed transport on the numeric keypad?

Hold down Ctrl (Mac) Start (Windows) and number 5 on the numeric keypad, to playback at normal speed.

1 - 4 are slower than normal, 6 - 9 are increasingly faster than normal.

+ is forward - is reverse.

+1

IIRC, this works for 1 or 2 tracks only but that shouldn't be a problem for this kind of project.

Thanks for this! Not sure why I haven't used this in the past for fast dialog preview it's a great time saver. (Have instead always used ctrl-alt mouse drag.)
