Default Simple, cheap control surface?

Hey folks. I'm looking for the simplest of simple control surfaces, and I'm not sure if one exists. I don't need bells and whistles or even faders for that matter. I just want to be able to have mute and record arming on a bank of 8 channels. This would make vocal overdubs and comps run much quicker for me. I cant see spending a thousand bucks on a JL Cooper fadermaster when I don't even need the faders.
Any suggestions?
