Default Consolidate option in Import Session Data not working

Hello everyone,
I've noticed a very strange behaviour lately. When importing tracks from one session to another using the Import session data option, checking the "Consolidate from source media" option (+handle size) doesn't seem to do anything.
Once imported, regions on the tracks are not consolidated using the defined handle size.
They can be trimmed way past this handle size...?...
I've tried different handle size (from 1000ms to 0) and made tests using different sessions and tracks, it won't work.
I've also tried the "Copy from source media" option just to see what happened and it gets weirder.
I've tried importing a 30 minutes files edited to a 10 seconds region, using both "Copy" then "Consolidate" (50ms handle size).
With the "Copy" option, I do get the 10 sec region that I can trim up to 30 minutes.
Now, using the "Consolidate" option, the resulting 10sec region can be trimmed up to 2minutes 26seconds!... ?...
I don't get it. I've tried with shorter files with the same result.
Any Idea?...

Setup: G5 2x2,5/10.4.8/PT LE 7.3.1cs3 (I just upgarded and used to have the same behaviour under cs2) + Digi002
AND: I get the same problem on the HD3-10.4.9-PT7.3.1cs3
