Thanks for the thought though. It's just an unsupported MacBook, but as always worked in the past. I hooked it up in the control room and still problems. Not enough ram for my remote studio anymore. All my other DAW's work fine. DP, Logic, LIVE. Oh Well. I am upgrading the RAM to 16GB that is coming with a kit form OWC. Have had several friends who have older macbookpros that only can max out at 8GB that are running great on this 16GB kit.

It was a 119.00 experiment and I will buy a new Laptop after the new chips come out next year. G
Something to keep in mind as to max ram amounts in a Mac is Apple understates in many cases what is really possible in a machine. Always good to check with a third party as to what can be put in there.

FWIW,

I am having much better performance with 11.3.2 HD than 11.3.1. Got very frequent crashes before and lots of errors when running heavy Sessions but only 1, I think so far.

This is on my brand new MBP Retina i7 w 16GB RAM and on a Mac Pro Late 2013.

Thnx for the comment musicmann691!

Yes, I did with a certified tech and he says it's not a problem an has been done to a lot of machines. He even sent me a link to videos showing it's done. An editor friend of mine did his a few months back and it works great along with him replacing his internal HD with a Samsung SSD for pretty cheap. He says it really runs all of his adobe apps super fast now. He had a 2012 model.
I just want this to be working for my out of town work until the new laptops come out next year, and I have several Mac Pros in the room here, so just trying to be able to mix and score on the road easier. I'll let everyone know hoe it goes with he memory after I install. G

Just installed 11.3.2. 1st session crashed. On the 2nd attempt PT froze while trying to close forcing a hard shutdown.

Just FYI

I have access to the update because PT 12 was included with my Support Plan and for me PT 12 was not worth having in terms of general stability. 11.3.1 worked so much better so I downgraded back. I'm wondering if 11.3.2 introduced more bad than good (like PT 12 in my case). What's your experience been like using 11.3.2?
i have(was using) 11.3.1 and updated tonight, used it for a bit, no problems, still have bus issues as i have in the past but shut everything down for a couple hours came back and it won't start up, pt was bouncing in my dock not responding, had to force quit and force my mac pro 12 core 48 gb ram upgraded 4,1- 5,1 running 10.9.5

When i installed the 11.3.2 driver there was a message saying that some may experience issues ? i just went ahead and installed it.

anyway it's a no go right now, maybe I should uninstall and use the 11.3.1 driver with the update ? Trouble shoot a little........ any suggestions?

Great, got up, uninstalled 11.3.2 driver, dumped pro tools in the trash, emptied it, restarted mac, did permission repair installed 11.3.1 had driver and 11.3.1 hd pro tools did it all again, fired up a session and it is stopping with aae-9173 error and won't play, I'm sorry but can somebody point me in the right direction

Should I have done a complete os clean reinstall 10.9.5?
I have a session later today and this will reek havoc with that

thanks avid

What plugins are you using? What's the session size? Have you tried a clean session from new and if so how does that work? I'm assuming you properly optimized your computer setup and have a separate drive for PT to work with.

Default Is the 11.3.2 update better than the 11.3.1?

Thank you

Uad plugs mostly, 2 octo cards

Session is getting is getting fairly large but worked fine before I did the update and back to 11.3.1

I actually did a new session and it worked but there were little to no plugin stress

How do you optimize your system?

I have a 512 Samsung pro ssd for os and yes audio is on a separate drive

I will start with a fresh session tonight for my client so hopefully that'll work fine and I'll keep going back to the loaded session and see if that changes. I bounced most of he vi's except for drums previous to the update not because of the update but because I'm getting close to moving it to mix mode

thanks again your help
