Default Which version of M-Powered 7 has least usage of RAM?

I've got ver 7.3.1 installed, but the program is taking up like 450MB of ram when just idle! I use my M-Powered for sequencing MIDI stuffs along with quite some number of virtual instruments, so with this much of RAM usage kills the instrument count and I'm reaching the RAM ceiling quite often!

I've read about previous version has lower RAM usage, say, 7.0~7.1, and I also read about using Digitranslator (in this case the LE version) also will take up more RAM. I'm using the MPT expansion, so is that a cause of such high RAM usage?

It'll be really cool if anyone of you can share your RAM usage when idle (no project loaded, memory usage when it's started up fresh)!

TIA

My copy of 7.3.1cs3 sits on 278M when idle - no project loaded.

ram usage is due to you using VST Instruments.
reduce the amount of "Active" VST Instruments, and you will see your RAM go down.
this happens especially with Sampler based VST Instruments.
you will need minimum of 2GB RAM to run DFH Superior.
4GB of RAM is recommended if you don't want any issues what-so-ever.

Thanks for the replies guys. I understand the need of more RAM for virtual instruments. I have 2GB and I think that's plenty. However, I can get significantly more instruments count previously in Cubase, so that doesn't matter how much RAM I have, as 32bit can only handle max 3GB ram for app when /3GB switch enabled, and that still a limit that can be reached often with big samples library. It's just that I have to sacrifice 300+MB for the same setting.

Kafka do you have MPT installed or you just have the PTMP? I've installed the latest update, still, it's 450MB. I try uninstall the MPT and see how it goes.

EDIT: Ok I had the MPT installed. Nope, I'm still getting around 450MB of RAM usage when just starting up. Could it be something to do with harddrive or something? I have 4 HD with 320GB each internally.

PT reserves loads of RAM for itself when it starts up. I'm guessing they use it for disk caching.

On here it uses ~250Mb with no session loaded and minimum 400Mb when I do anything. It shouldn't be a big deal, though - that number won't get higher while you're running unless you're loading big virtual instruments.

*just checked - it's related to DAE playback buffer. I set it to the "Level 8" setting and it jumped to 600Mb used.

What? Wait. Watch. Where? Okay back to my answer: IF YOU AINT GOT NO MONEY TAKE YOUR BROKE *** HOME (repeat same line) (repeat same line) (repeat same line)

don't worry about the ram. worry about the production.
