Default Onyx or Cocktail?

I've seen some people post about using one of these to keep the mac os running clean. Is one better than the other? And if I do a general "run scripts" on either of these, are the most common things already pre selected, or are there other things that some of you out there like to check?

Thanks!

They would both do OK. My favorite is actually Main Menu, it has a 'batch' function similar to Cocktails. I used Cocktail for years, and it totally does the trick. The nice thing is you just set up 'Pilot' with your prefs, and it's really easy to run them all at once any time you need.

Both those programs, and most others like them on OSX, are really only graphic interfaces for UNIX programs built into the system. You can accomplish all the same tasks in the Terminal. Since there is no difference at all in the actual actions they execute, just go for the one with the interface and automation features you like best.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Tim, I'm trying "Main Menu" now - downloaded the free trial.

When you run "batch tasks" , do you end up selecting most options listed? Or are there ones that you omit? I came from windows so I'm not sure what a lot of these do.

Also, on any of these programs, Do you guys schedule them , or just manually start them at the end of the day at quitting time?

Thanks!
