Default Mackie Onyx

I've been looking at Mackie's New onyx board as well as some other firewire based interfaces. I kno my computer will support the interface and if I installed Cubase i could use them to record with but I'm wondering if there is a software packages out there that will let me use Rewire and say cubase or some other software so I can record through the other interface into a program and then rewire the out put onto an audio track in PT. I have looked at doing this with Tracktion and Cubase but both there programs are masters for Rewire like PT is whereas Reason is a slave with rewire. Anyone tried this or something like it? I kno i can use S/PIDF and ADAT for more I/O but in a live senario coming off the board i'm mixing on is a great sounding idea...Thx
