Video Engine 22006 error. Any advice?

Hi all,

I keep getting Avid Video Engine error -22006

I hit play and about 15 frames of video play, then it freezes and throws that error. This happens every time.

Occasionally a full reboot resolves the issue and it stays resolved, but on a subsequent startup or reboot it randomly comes back and persists until another random reboot clears it.

System is recently cleanly wiped and fully reinstalled:

2013 Mac Pro
2.7 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon E5
64GB RAM
AMD FirePro D700 6 GB
MacOS 12.7.5

Pro Tools Ultimate 2024.3.1

Black Magic UltraStudio Mini Monitor with Black Magic Desktop Video version 12.7.1 feeding to a TV via HDMI


Picture file is an h264 .MOV file, 1280x720 at 29.97fps

Any advice is most appreciated!

Check if the BM driver is the most current for your system/OS.

Try without using the BM driver/card; feed video from a mac output.

Regardless of the possible BM issues, H264 is not a good codec to use in PT.
Re compress with ProRes or DNxHD.
I think you will find it mush faster/smother overall.

agree. Try importing a different codec and see if the same issue occurs.

Like Kasper said, export the video file as DNxHD36 or ProRes LT in 1920x1080 using the free app Shutter Encoder.

Seems as long as I religiously convert my picture to ProRes LT using DaVinci Resolve before trying to use it in Pro Tools, I'm good. So for now that's my plan!

I'm trying to hold out for the next revision to the Mac Studio before replacing this ancient trash can, as it is otherwise still serving my needs sufficiently.
